Anatomical Pathology

Histopathology involves the examination of sampled whole tissues under the microscope. Specimens require tissue preparation and are treated and analysed using techniques appropriate to the type of tissue and the investigation required. For immediate diagnosis during a surgical procedure a frozen section is performed.

Histopathology : Involves the microscopic examination of tissues.   The tissues are prepared, stained and examined for abnormalities.  This is done using specialized techniques which are appropriate to the type of tissue under examination.

Cytology: The study of the appearance of cells microscopically.  Body fluids are prepared on a slide which is screened by a Cytotechnologist.
